New Year’s was awesome! Scott and Mateo made kick-ass dumplings. It was great fun sitting around the table and stuffing dumplings on New Year’s. Abby got filled eating the dumpling filling while we were making them.
After dinner it was onto the Emerald Nut’s Midnight Run! Everyone met up before the race to turn into reindeer for the costume contest. We had such high enthusiasm that we actually came in second place and won $200 and a big basket of nuts! It was insane! As we were all waiting to go to the front of the race start, a woman from CNN asked if we wanted to be interviewed. Of course! There we are on live TV! After the race we ran into the reporter, and he put us on TV again. This time Scott called my mom who was able to see us.
The race itself was the most fun I’ve had in a long time. At midnight the race started and fireworks were set off. It was kind of surreal running in a mass of people away from loud bangs and booms. We kept it at a slow pace and enjoyed the party atmosphere.
On our way back to the meet up location, we stopped at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for a quick chorus line. The subway ride home was excruciatingly long and half the people were beyond drunk. At least the subway wasn’t packed with people. Scott, Abby and I finally made it home a little after 4am. Abby passed out within minutes of hitting the pillow. She had slept on and off all night. We all woke up this morning after 11am. As with every New Year’s Day, Scott, Abby and I had sushi for dinner.
Oh and on a side note, we found out we got the new apartment. How crazy. Scott is calling a lawyer tomorrow. I have to give an answer very soon to the new landlord. I have no idea what to do.
