Penny's vomiting was a stomach bug. The bug has charged it's way through our family. Abby, then Vera, and now Scott. I'm hoping and hoping the antibiotics I'm on for the mastitis saves me from this bug. I have so much to do these next few days, that I can't be down sick. Everyone went to bed early tonight. Please let Scott wake up feeling better. Pleeeeaaase.

Mastitis gone! Once I pumped my body full of raw garlic, phytolacca, and antibiotics, I was nearly 100% Sunday morning. Hot rice filled socks worked wonders too.
Now, Penny is throwing up. I can't catch a break! She was vomiting after every nurse. As a side note, she was a very considerate sick toddler, and made it into the little potty almost every time. So far this afternoon, no vomit. I can hear her tummy rumbling, and I hope that means she's on the mend.
I ordered all the rest of Abby's school books. She's all set to go for third grade. I ordered Vera's Math 1 meeting book, and her kindy Handwriting Without Tears book. Her 5th birthday will be here before I know it!

This weekend was supposed to be a busy weekend for me. Work on Saturday, then volunteering at an Expo for pregnant/new moms. My boob had other ideas. I have mastitis. It's crazy! Why now? This is the first time I've ever had nursing issues. I've been pretty damn lucky for eight years. So today, I get to wallow on the couch, put hot things on my boob, and nurse as much as possible. Though, there are times during the day Penny doesn't want to nurse. The kid is 16 months, and if her sisters are eating lunch- forget it- she's gotta eat, too.

It rained buckets today. We stayed home, and did lessons, and cleaned.
Penny trialed tomatoes. It was a failure. I really wanted tomatoes back. She took a bite, spit it out, and scraped her mouth clean, then took another bite, same story. Penny got splotchy in a matter of minutes. Scott had a minor freak out, and wanted to give her Benedryl, but we didn't have any. (Bad parents!) Her face cleared up pretty fast. Today, she's had runny poops, and mucousy poo. So, yea. No nightshades still. I'm afraid to see what potatoes would do to her.
Abby's pretty much done with Math 3. I got the Spectrum Grade 3 Enrichment Math workbook from the library, and Abby's been taking the chapter post-tests each day. She's breezing through them. I'm having her do them mostly for me. I need that reassurence that Abby's retaining what I'm teaching her. Also, it's giving us a bit of a break before we dive into Saxon math 4/5.
We're finishing up our science block on space. I'd like to do a final science project. I may have Abby pick a topic, and have her do something like make a model or poster. Maybe pick a book, and do a report. She really liked this book called "The First Kid on Mars". Abby could do something related to that.
Vera read four Bob Books today. She wants to start math, and keeps asking. I want her to wait until she turns five in January. I'd like to work more on her reading. I follow her interest in reading, but it would be awesome to give her a little nudge to read more. If Vera can be reading well by the end of this school year, it would make our lessons easier next year.

We did a crazy long hike today. 2.5 miles. I got turned around in the woods, and we ended up on a jeep access trail, instead of the outer loop trail at Oregon Ridge. The girls made it up some pretty steep climbs, and Penny slept through a good portion of the hike on my back. The weather couldn't have been better.
Scott wanted to watch football, and since we don't get tv, we packed up dinner, and watched the game at his parents' house.
It's been a long, but satisfying day. Tomorrow, I've got house work to take care of, lessons, library, and hopefully some outdoor playtime if it's not raining.

What a lovely day! The girls and I drove out to Delaware to meet friends from Brooklyn. The drive out there couldn't have been better, or scenic! We left right at nap time for Penny, and she slept nearly the whole way. My gps is programmed to avoid tolls, so it took us through Port Deposit and some very beautiful, wild back roads. We played, caught up, and played. I was worried the ride home would be torture for Penny, but all the walking and playing tired her out enough to sit. Plus, I saved two smooshed veggie/fruit packets just for the ride home. There's no toll on 95 towards Baltimore, so the drive home seemed faster.

This was one of those horrid nights where no one falls asleep until after 10:30. Actually, I just heard Vera. It's 11pm. This makes me cranky. I need time to decompress before bed. Some time that's kid free to do what I want (eat chocolate, take a shower, read a paragraph uninterrupted) without a small person needing me or something. It makes me a better mother.
I guess I'll have to shower in the morning...

A Scott update. :) He did a Whole30, a super strict month of Paleo. He looks great and healthy! Our bathroom scale is broken, so we have no idea how much weight he lost. Scott wouldn't let me do a before/after photo either. Today at work, people noticed how good he looks. Now, he's going to continue to be primal, but relax a bit. Rice once in a while. A beer, maybe. He makes me proud.

We had a wonderful dinner and cake with grandparents tonight. Abby enjoyed herself. What more could a kid want than balloons, cake, and grandparents??
I'm insanely lucky Penny is easy going. She's been doing wonderful with Scott on Saturdays. Today, Scott took all three girls to run a few errands while I finished cleaning and baked Abby's cake. Awesome. It's so wonderful to bake and clean without three helpers!
Abby had a good birthday weekend. It was busy, but nice. I love my baby girl. Still can't believe she's eight. Two more years and she'll be TEN.
